EBA is a chronic autoimmune blistering disease of the skin and mucus membranes. Given the extreme rarity of the disease, knowledge, understanding and awareness of it, even within the medical community is limited. Most dermatologist have never come across cases of EBA and those that have have seen at most only a couple of cases during their entire career. This holds true to even greater degree when it comes to determining the causes of the disease which remain, to date, unknown. It is therefore not surprising that internet resources are extremely sparse. We have collected those that do exist and you can find them in the resources section of the site. Amongst them, one is particularly noteworthy for providing a wealth of useful and true information, Epidermolysis Bullosa Acquisita by Lawrence Chan, MD and David Woodley, MD.
In this section you will find many references back to the article by Chan and Woodley as we think there is no purpose in simply re-iterating what has already been written. In line with the general ethos of the site and the group as a whole, where we have thought that through our personal experiences, value can be added or clarification be made, we have done so.
